Baku See the First CNG Filling Station

The first of six gas filling stations, announced in November last year by State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), has now been built in the city of Baku where it will serve the new BakuBus CNG-powered public transportation fleet. A new service depot for the city’s buses has also been built.
“The new cng station will operate in modern and safe regime and are designed for modern buses Iveco purchased specially for BakuBus,” BakuBus LLC deputy director Vusal Kerimli said, reports ABC.AZ. In May 2014, the Mayor Baku placed an order with Iveco for 151 CNG Crealis buses.
The new cng station is designed to fill up to 15 CNG buses simultaneously and has the capability to deliver 50 m³ of natural gas in four hours, sufficient for 300 bus fills.Azerbaijan - Baku Bus Depot Jun2015Last week, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited the new BakuBus depot and training center, where the new buses will be maintained. The natural gas gathering compressor based depot is able to service 12 buses at a time. The President was informed of the many benefits of operating the 12.3 m Crealis CNG buses, in particular the environmental benefits from reduced emissions and operating noise.
